An article in last week’s Financial Times talked about the complications of travel cover.
The story followed a recent study into travel insurance and cancer by the Financial Conduct Authority. In their report the FCA said it was concerned about a “lengthy, distressed search for consumers, during a period of vulnerability.”
Steven Mendel, CEO of the insurance group Bought by Many, responded to the FCA by backing up the claim that travel insurers over complicate the quote process:
“A lot of insurers ask vast amounts of medical underwriting questions. It is not uncommon for underwriters to have potential policyholders on the phone for 90 minutes to two hours.”
At AllClear, we’re pleased to keep things as simple as possible.
AllClear’s CEO, Chris Rolland says:
“We try to ensure that no one is uninsurable. We believe we can price cover differently to anyone else simply because we’ve been doing this for almost 2 decades, longer than any other specialist medical travel insurance provider. Our expertise means our average talk time in July for sales calls was just 15 minutes and 21 seconds.”
The Financial Times article clearly recognised AllClear as a leading specialist travel insurance provider for pre-existing medical conditions. We acknowledge the FCA’s recent call for travel insurers to provide fairer premiums to those with cancer.
Chris Rolland explains:
“We calculate prices on an individual basis, according to medical conditions declared, age, choice of destination and length of stay. AllClear can also offer cover when a customer is receiving treatment for cancer or on a waiting list. Years before the FCA report, AllClear was the first travel insurance company to dramatically cut its premiums for those who were diagnosed with breast cancer. Since 2000, AllClear has helped cover tens of thousands of people with cancer.”
So for approximately 2.5 million people in the UK now living with cancer, there really are specialists out there that can still offer cover.
Please don’t be put off from planning a holiday by assuming you won’t find cover!
