There are a few things to consider when planning your trip to Greece; as part of the process, we recommend that:

- Be aware and follow any local restrictions in place (such as curfews or face coverings)
- Buy Covid cover
What should Travel Insurance for Greece cover?
If you wish to travel with confidence, look for a policy that includes:
Medical expenses cover – unexpected medical expenses can be extortionate without Travel Insurance. Choose a policy that includes medical expenses cover, ensuring that you declare all pre-existing medical conditions.
Repatriation – the GHIC scheme doesn’t cover medical transport back to the UK, so you’ll need a Travel Insurance policy that includes repatriation.
Cancellation cover – if you need to self-isolate or cancel your trip due to a Covid diagnosis or pre-existing medical condition, your policy should cover any financial losses as long as it includes cancellation cover.
Personal property cover – don’t let the stress of losing luggage ruin your trip. Protect your items with personal property cover.

What does the GHIC cover in Greece?
The new Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) has replaced the EHIC following Brexit.
The GHIC offers the same level of cover for emergency medical expenses as the EHIC. It will mean that you will receive healthcare at the same rate as local citizens. However, you won’t be covered for repatriation back to the UK, which may leave you with a medical bill that’s thousands of pounds.
That’s why it’s still essential that you have a comprehensive Travel Insurance policy in place before you travel to Greece.
How much is travel insurance for Greece?
Your Travel Insurance policy premium to Greece is calculated by combining several different contributing factors. Any pre-existing medical conditions that you have will affect your insurance price, as will your age. The cost of medical treatment in the country you are travelling to and how long you are planning to be there will also affect the final premium. Any optional extras will also affect the final price of your travel insurance policy.
