Superior Covid-19 Travel Insurance for Switzerland

Travel restrictions have been reduced, and holidaymakers are keen to make a start on their travel wish lists. After receiving the full course of the COVID-19 vaccine, 3 out of 4 over the 50s (77%4) we surveyed feel more confident to travel in the next 12 months.

So, if you’re hoping to have a Swiss adventure, remember to protect yourself and your trip.

Chris Rolland, CEO of AllClear Travel, said: “The future of travel is certainly looking brighter. Vaccines have been successful in helping us regain our freedom. At AllClear, we’ve refined our Travel Insurance policies so that we can protect all travellers no matter their age or medical conditions, enabling everyone to have peace of mind in an ever-evolving travel era.”

What should Travel Insurance for Switzerland Cover?

For confidence on your travels, look for a policy that includes:

Medical expenses cover – As Switzerland isn’t a part of the GHIC scheme, you can’t use your card while on holiday there. Therefore, a policy with medical expenses is essential, protecting you against any medical emergency.

Repatriation – As Switzerland is located in south-central Europe, repatriation can cost up to £16,000. Make sure you choose a policy with repatriation cover included to avoid extensive bills should you need to be medically transported.

Cancellation cover – This type of cover will enable you to be reimbursed for any irrecoverable financial loss due to having to cancel or cut short your trip.

Personal property cover – Loss of luggage can be stressful. Protect your possession while travelling with personal property cover.

Frequently asked questions

What does the GHIC cover in Switzerland?

Health care in Switzerland is decentralised. While the system is funded through taxes and enroll premiums, residents need to purchase Travel Insurance from private nonprofit insurers to cover the costs of medical treatment. Tourists visiting Switzerland are also expected to cover the costs of emergency medical treatments.

Switzerland is not a part of the GHIC scheme. So travel insurance is even more important when visiting these destinations.

What is the best month to go to Switzerland?

Switzerland is a stunning destination year-round. How you want to spend your trip, will dictate the best time to visit.  To see the Alpine bloom, March to May is your season. If you’re a winter sports enthusiast, December to March is the best time.

How many days do you need to see Switzerland?

There is a lot to see and do in Switzerland, so a trip duration of around five days is recommended to make the most of it.

Planning to ski in Switzerland?

The Swiss slopes are world-famous. If you wish to ski or snowboard or try any other winter sport on your trip, you’ll need to make sure your chosen policy covers you. Most Travel Insurance policies don’t cover these types of activities as standard so you will need to buy an optional extra.

From tobogganing to sledging, at AllClear, we offer Winter Sports Cover so that you can have peace of mind.
