Cover for non travelling relatives

When you can claim in relation to family members at home

A family member is ill, and they are not travelling with you. Would you be covered for cancellation or curtailment if their health deteriorates?

Most of our providers will cover claims for cancellation or curtailment if a family member is ill. However, they may ask for additional information in order to honour these types of claims.

For example, they might need the close relatives GP to state that, at the time the travel insurance was purchased, they would not have foreseen such a serious deterioration in their patient’s condition. There may be other conditions that are specified too, so you should check out the cover provided on the policy wording (General Conditions section), to ensure you can comply with the full terms stated.
