When buying Travel Insurance for over 65s, it’s important to declare all pre-existing medical conditions, whether that’s for you or anyone else who is going to be covered by this policy. We define a pre-existing medical condition as any condition you have:
Examples of pre-existing medical conditions we cover include:
To declare your pre-existing medical conditions, call our specialist experts to help guide you or complete our medical screening process online.
The type of Travel Insurance you need will change slightly depending on your trip. That might mean optional extras, like valuable cover for your golf clubs, being protected against cruise cabin confinement or even cover for the whole family.
Your age shouldn’t limit where you visit, which is why we provide Over 65s Travel Insurance for almost any country you’d want to visit. Our Travel Insurance is grouped by region.

It can be difficult to find an insurance provider if you’re over 65, but we don’t think that’s fair. We have over 20 years of experience as specialists covering older travellers.
Did you know that 97%2 of our customers rate us as ‘Excellent’ or ‘Great’? Here’s what our customers had to say about us.
It’s a fact of getting older that some things, like Travel Insurance, will cost more money. This is because there is a higher risk of claims being needed for older travellers. As such you should expect to pay more for your Travel Insurance once you turn 65.
The type of policy you need will depend on your personal needs. If you’re doing one trip this year, Single Trip Travel Insurance will be fine. If you’re doing more than one, why not try Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance? All our policies have no upper age limit and come with Covid cover as standard, for peace of mind.
There are some optional extras that you might want to consider. These include:
How often you can travel will depend on the type of policy you have:
If your medical conditions change after you have bought a policy with us, please let us know. You can do this online or over the phone by calling our Customer Care Team on 01708 339026. Make sure your policy is up-to-date by letting us know of any changes before you travel.
You should buy Over 65s Travel Insurance as soon as you have booked your trip. That way, you’re less likely to forget to purchase insurance. You’ll also be protected if any issues arise between booking and travelling. If you’re not in a position to book Travel Insurance right away, make sure you buy at the soonest opportunity so you’re covered for cancellation.
Remember that you need to buy your Travel Insurance before you leave the UK for it to be valid.
You still need Over 65s Travel Insurance, even if you have a GHIC (previously EHIC) card. The GHIC will cover medical expenses in the event of an emergency if you are visiting Europe. However, the GHIC card does not cover any other costs that might be incurred if anything goes awry, such as if your flights are cancelled or you lose your valuables. That’s why having both GHIC and separate Travel Insurance is essential to ensure you’re covered for all eventualities.
You need to declare all your medical conditions before you buy your Travel Insurance policy. If you don’t declare all your conditions and something does happen on your trip, you may find that your policy becomes void and you will be liable for any costs.
Your insurance premiums are calculated based on several different factors, including your age and any pre-existing medical conditions you have.
Here are a few other things that contribute to your quote premium.
No, your age does not affect how long you can travel on our Travel Insurance policies.
The length of stay is only dictated by the policy you’ve chosen:
Yes, you can still get Over 65s Travel Insurance if you’re on a waiting list for a treatment. We recommend getting Waiting List Cover as an optional extra when buying your policy, as this will cover you against any cancellation or curtailment that may occur as a result.
Yes, you can add more people to your Travel Insurance policy, no matter their age. As part of our Group Travel Insurance, we can insure between two to ten people on a single policy. There’s no age limit, but we do need to know if anyone in the group has pre-existing medical conditions.
If you’ve already got a policy that you want to add people to, simply chat with us online or call us on 01708 339026.
We believe that your age shouldn’t limit how often you can travel. With our Travel Insurance for over 65s, you’re able to travel as often as you want if you’ve got Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance. This covers you for multiple trips throughout the year, as long as each trip isn’t longer than 31 consecutive days.
