Travel insurance covering mild asthma

Mild asthma travel insurance covers you if you are living with mild asthma and wish to travel with peace of mind. This type of insurance covers you for medical emergencies, even those related to COVID-19, which is vital to prevent unexpected medical bills and give you the support you need if you have any medical problems while you are away.

As a specialist provider of medical travel insurance, AllClear has covered over 1300 different medical conditions since launching in 2000. We can cover mild asthma travel insurance for either a single trip or annual-multi trip policy.

Why do you need to declare mild asthma travel insurance?

What if your asthma took a turn for the worst whilst on holiday because you were exposed to a trigger that you do not often experience in your day to day life? What if your inhalers are lost or stolen?

These are important considerations, whether your asthma is severe and you use asthma medication daily or you only have mild asthma.

If you have a specialist mild asthma travel insurance policy, you‘ll be covered if you need unexpected medication or have to be admitted to hospital during your holiday…

Will you be covered if you’re travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic?

There are three things to check so that you can make sure you're covered:

  • You must be fit to travel
  • The FCDO must NOT have advised against travel to your destination - check the FCDO travel advice
  • You must follow the local government advice for your destination, checking and following their guidelines and entry requirements

You can then be covered for emergency medical expenses and cancellation for a positive diagnosis of COVID-19, with AllClear travel insurance with enhanced Coronavirus cover. Existing policyholders should read our Frequently Asked Questions if your trip is affected by Covid-19.

Important information about mild asthma travel insurance

Single trip or annual multi-trip?

If your travel plans include several holidays in one year, then an annual multi-trip policy for mild asthma travel insurance could be your best option.

However, with an annual multi-trip policy, each holiday cannot be longer than 45 days if you’re under 70, or 31 days if you are over 70. Also, all trips have to start and finish in the UK (AllClear Gold and Gold Plus policies). If you’re considering a trip which is longer than this, you might want to look at a single trip policy instead.

Providers do vary in the trip length requirements so make sure that you check the specific policy details.

Do I need to declare my asthma, even though it’s very mild?

It’s essential to declare your asthma when completing your quote; no matter how mild it is. However, we understand that the severity of asthma varies. That’s why, the multiple-choice medical questions allow you to detail how mild or severe your asthma is.

We use this information to determine your premium (the amount of money you pay for your insurance) and offer a range of fairly priced quotes for you.

What happens if you need to change something regarding your medical situation after purchasing your policy?

If you develop a new medical condition or an existing one gets worse, you’re still able to amend your policy. However, please notify us at the earliest opportunity and in particular before you book or commence your trip.

For changes to your original medical declaration, just call our Customer care team to make any adjustments. Please note that in some cases, we may apply an additional premium to your policy to make these changes. Please check your policy wording as providers may vary.
