Why do you need Holiday Insurance over 75?

Travel Insurance for the over 75 is there to protect travellers just like you against unexpected medical emergencies while away and cancellation costs before you go. This gives you peace of mind so you can enjoy your trip.

Over 75s Travel Insurance for medical conditions

More than 6 in 10 (61%3) of those we surveyed, aged 71-75, have two or more medical conditions. However, over 75 Travel Insurance with medical conditions can be difficult to find. As a specialist provider, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to travel. We offer Travel Insurance over 75s that can be tailored to suit you and your medical needs.

What’s a pre-existing medical condition?

A pre-existing medical condition is any diagnosis you’ve had in the last five years or any condition you have taken medication for. It’s important to declare all pre-existing medical conditions before you travel. This will ensure you have the right level of cover based on your circumstances. Some examples of pre-existing medical conditions we’ve covered are:

How much does Travel Insurance for over 75s cost?

The cost of Travel Insurance increases as you age, because older travellers are more likely to need assistance or make a claim. But what else affects the premium of your policy?

  • Destination: Different countries have different medical expenses and can have a higher risk, so your destination can affect the price of your policy. Your medical cover will need to be sufficient for your chosen destination.
  • Trip length: If you’re taking a single trip, the length of your holiday will impact the cost of your cover. A longer trip means there is a great risk of a claim. If you’re taking multiple trips, the length of your getaway has less of an impact.
  • Extras: You can choose to include extra cover for specific events for an additional premium, whether it’s Cruise Travel Insurance or extended cancellation cover.
  • Medial conditions: Because Over 75s travel insurance includes medical cover, you may need to pay more to cover your pre existing medical conditions.

What does Travel Insurance for the over 75s cover?

  • What’s covered:

    • Health problems: Insurance for over 75s includes emergency medical cover and costs for any existing medical condition or medication.

    • Repatriation: You’ll be covered for the costs to bring you home if it is medically needed.

    • Cancellation cover: Protect yourself if you have to cancel due to an unforeseen emergency or reasons beyond your control.

    • Lost luggage: We’ll cover your items against loss, damage or theft, while you’re on holiday.

    • Travel disruption: We’ll help you to cover alternative transport or accommodation if your travel plans are affected by events out of your control.

  • What’s not covered:

    • Undeclared medical conditions: We cannot provide cover for health problems which are not declared during the medical screening.

    • Airline Strikes: You will need to contact the airline directly in the event of a strike.

    • Travelling against FCDO advice: We do not provide cover if you go against the travel advice of the FCDO.

    • Choosing not to travel: No cover exists if you decided not to travel without a valid reason.

    • Flights missed due to your own error: Sometimes things go wrong, but we can’t cover you if you miss your transport because of mistakes that you made.

For full details please see your policy wording.

Types of policies you can get?

  • Single trip policies: You can get this type of insurance for over 75s if you’re only taking an individual trip but still want comprehensive cover. It includes emergency medical cover, pre existing medical conditions and has no upper age limit.
  • Annual policy: Enjoy unlimited trips over a year in your chosen region, with all the cover of a standard policy. There’s no trip limits so this type of cover is perfect for senior travellers who love to be covered for multiple adventures.
  • Cruise Travel Insurance: If your travel plans include a cruise, you’ll need to take out Cruise cover to make sure you have the right cover. Cruise cover includes costs for medical treatment while you travel abroad as well as specific instances such as cabin confinement or missed excursions.

Travel Insurance for a cruise

Cruising at any age is an exciting way to see the world. From riverboat cruises to luxury international cruises, you’re sure to ensure a holiday of a lifetime. However, the cover offered by a standard over 75 Travel Insurance policy won’t protect you against cruise specific issues.

AllClear Travel Insurance for a cruise offers you all the benefits included with a standard policy plus additional cruise specific benefits that are tailored for specific problems that may arise on a cruise holiday, including;

  • Missed port departure

  • Cabin confinement

  • Itinerary change

  • Unused excursions

  • Cruise interruption

Flexible Holiday Insurance for the over 75s

  • Gadget Cover – if you want to ensure your electronic devices, add Gadget Cover to your policy.

  • Travel Companion – can insure people in your travelling party against holiday cancellations resulting from one of your medical conditions.

  • Golf Cover – If you’re playing golf on holiday, then AllClear can offer golf cover to protect your equipment and other aspects of your golf holiday.

GHIC cover for over 75s

Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) is valid in the 27 countries within the EU. The GHIC is not a substitute for Over 75 Travel Insurance as it doesn’t provide cover for all circumstances such as repatriation. Repatriation without Insurance in place can leave you with an extensive bill. See typical costs for Repatriation from Popular European destinations to the UK below.

  • Spain to UK £18,000

  • France to UK £12,000

  • Germany to UK £12,000

To protect yourself and your trip, you’ll need comprehensive Over 75 Travel Insurance.
