Ray, 85, from Essex, has been an AllClear customer for nine years and has never needed to make a claim. Despite having a few medical conditions, that doesn’t hold him back, he loves to travel and will soon visit Sri Lanka and Japan with many more holidays planned.
To travel without the worry, Ray knew that he needed a travel insurance policy that would offer full cover without any unnecessary restrictions and exclusions.
“My wife and I have medical problems, and we know we won’t be able to travel abroad too many more times in the future. So, we decided to have a couple of great trips this year. But who knows about next year? It might be the same, or we might look to do something different.”
When it came to shopping around, Ray said it was simple, because he knew what he was looking for, as he says. “It was really about what they covered. Some of the other companies gave me all sorts of silly reasons for the prices they quoted for their policies, so I just laughed and moved on! Over the years, Ray and his wife have travelled extensively, including trips to the U.S., Canada, Spain and Portugal. While they have never needed to claim on their policy, one incident when they were on holiday in South Africa reminded Ray of how important it is to be covered.
“We were in Cape Town and got ambushed by some people who wanted our jewellery. We managed to fight them off, and, luckily, someone in a car stopped to help us and we jumped in. We went from there to Victoria Falls. It wasn’t until we got back home that I realised I’d broken my ankle.“ Despite the situation, Ray didn’t make a claim. “It was our fault, we were told to get a taxi, but we’d had such a lovely day that we decided to walk. Lesson learned!”
Even though Ray has never had cause to make a claim, he feels reassured by the support he has received from AllClear. “They have been brilliant. I’ve felt supported and, in a way, a bit special. I’ll be staying with AllClear as long as I’m travelling. I see no reason to go elsewhere.”
