Travel Insurance for over 50s covers you for medical emergencies while away. This means you can travel with peace of mind, knowing you do not need to worry about unexpected medical bills. Make AllClear your travel companion and travel with peace of mind.
Over 50s Travel Insurance is essential for anyone with a pre-existing medical condition. Specialist Medical Travel Insurance by AllClear includes cover for medical treatment and cancellation cover, which you may not be able to find elsewhere.
To ensure you’re fully covered, you must disclose any medical condition during the Medical screening process. Failure to disclose when buying Travel Insurance may leave you without protection.
We offer Medical Travel Insurance with up to £15 million cover for emergency medical treatment. With an AllClear policy, you’ll be fully protected, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday.

If you have a pre existing health condition, Travel Insurance for over 50s can be tailored to suit you and your individual needs. It should be both comprehensive and good value for money.
Look for a policy that includes;
cover for emergency medical expenses
no upper age limit
It should also include Covid cover.
If you have pre existing conditions, you need an over 50s Travel Insurance policy that covers them. This means that your policy might be more expensive, because you are more likely to need medical care while travelling. It is better to have a good policy than to risk paying huge medical bills. There are other things that can affect the price of your policy, besides your age. Here are some of them:
Destination: Some destinations have higher medical costs or greater risks than others. For example, if you travel somewhere with higher crime rates or medical costs, your cover will be more expensive than if you travel to a safer or cheaper destination.
Trip length: Longer trips mean a higher chance you’ll need to make a claim. If you are looking for a single trip policy, the price will depend on how long your planned trip is.
Pre existing health conditions: You must declare any ongoing medical conditions when you buy your policy. If you medical conditions, your policy may be more costly as you are more likely to need medical assistance while away.
Optional extras: You can amend your policy to suit your needs by adding extra cancellation cover, or increased baggage protection. We also offer additional cover for winter sports, cruise, or golf. However, adding this extra protection will also increase the price of your policy.
If you are over 50 years old, you can still access all the features of our standard Travel Insurance policy, including emergency medical cover.
Medical expenses: We provide cover for any emergency medical care you may require while travelling. This includes pre existing medical conditions you informed us of during your medical screening.
Prescribed medication and medical aids: We can help you to replace your crucial prescription medication and medical aids if you lose them during your holiday.
Repatriation: We can help return you home in the event of an emergency.
Lost Luggage: If your baggage is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can replace your important items and enjoy your holiday.
Cancellation: Cover that protects you for the cost of your holiday if you have to cannot travel due to reasons outside of your control.
Travel disruption: If your plans are disrupted, we can assist with alternative transport or accommodation.
Undisclosed medical conditions: To ensure your safety in the event of a medical emergency, you must disclose your medical history when you buy Travel Insurance.
Airline strikes that affect your trip: As the airlines are responsible for any strikes they are required to compensate you accordingly and assist with finding alternative transport if necessary.
High-risk activities: These activities are not included in our standard policy, but we can offer additional cover for some of them, such as adventure sports, if you are interested.
Events which occur if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol: We want you to have a good time, but we also want you to be responsible and careful.
Traveling against FCDO advice: While we offer worldwide cover, we exclude any destinations deemed too dangerous by the FCDO.
Missed flights within your control: If you are late for your travel due to your own mistakes or lack of preparation, we cannot offer you any compensation for that.
Choosing not to travel: We know that life can be unpredictable, but we can only provide protection for cancellation if you have a legitimate reason, such as sickness, injury or bereavement.

The GHIC card (which replaced the European Health Insurance Card) offers you the same levels of cover while you’re in an EU country as a resident of that country. However, the GHIC card will not cover all medical circumstances, such as repatriation back to the UK. That’s why it’s essential also to have cover in place before you travel.

“I have just purchased an Annual Travel Insurance policy from this company. I have to say that the staff were friendly, patient and helpful. For the last few years, I have used a well-known company that specialises in over 50’s but their premiums are almost double those of AllClear and the cover from AllClear is as good if not better in some cases. The paperwork supplied is easy to read and understand. Well worth getting a quote from this company for your needs.” – Steve

Book your Travel Insurance early as cancellation cover begins as soon as your policy does. The sooner you buy your Travel Insurance, the more confidence you’ll feel about your cover.
Double-check your Travel Insurance documents before your trip. If you have a medical emergency, you’ll need the medical emergency number from your policy. If you have lost your documents, speak to our Customer Care Team via Live Chat or call us on 0800 640 4811 for a copy.
While our policies do not have upper age limits, your age does affect the cost of your insurance. As people get older, they may face more healthcare costs and mishaps that require them to make claims on their Travel Insurance. Due to the increased risk, there is an increased premium.
Yes, be sure to answer that you are on a waiting list for treatment during the Medical Warranty section of your quote. Plus, if you’d like to be covered for cancelling your holiday due to being on the waiting list, simply Waiting List cover as an optional extra.
You don’t need to provide us with a fit-to-fly certificate from your doctor. However, you will need to confirm you’re fit to travel when getting a quote or purchasing a policy. So, if you have a chronic health condition, we recommend consulting with your GP before travelling. If you need to make a claim, you may require a letter from your doctor. The letter will need to confirm that you were fit to travel when you bought your policy.
It’s a short set of straightforward questions about your health that will help determine your conditions and make sure you get the right level of cover. You have to select the medical conditions applicable to you (and any other travellers) and answer a few routine medical questions. That’s it!
If you’ve purchased over 50s Travel Insurance from AllClear, you can amend your details at any time. Get in touch at the earliest possible opportunity to let us know what has changed concerning your medical condition. Before you travel, let us know any changes to ensure that your policy is the most up-to-date and that you’re still covered.
