Helpful friendly staff

“I have just purchased an annual travel insurance policy from this company. I have to say that the staff were friendly, patient and helpful. For the last few years, I have used a well-known company that specialises in over 50’s but their premiums are almost double those of AllClear and the cover from AllClear is as good if not better in some cases. The paperwork supplied is easy to read and understand. Well worth getting a quote from this company for your needs.” – Steve

Frequently asked questions about Travel Insurance for over 50’s

How far in advance can you get TravelIinsurance?

To protect your holiday, it’s always best to buy Travel Insurance in advance. Single trip Travel Insurance cover begins on the day of purchase and expires on the specified return date. Annual Travel Insurance can be bought 90 days in advance from when you want it to start and will expire 12 months after.

What's the difference between Single Trip or Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance for over 50's?

Single trip Travel Insurance: Covers you for a one-off trip on selected dates only. You can travel for up to 92 days.

Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance: This allows you unlimited travel throughout the year! This is perfect if you’re planning on getting away a few times in the next 12 months because it’s cheaper than buying several single trip Travel Insurance policies.

The maximum trip duration varies between Annual Multi-trip policies.

For example, you can travel up to 45 days per trip for unlimited trips with the AllClear Gold and Gold Plus annual multi-trip cover. And if needed, you can easily extend this with additional days for only a small premium.

Is Travel Insurance on a cruise worth it?

If you are 50 and have medical conditions, we can offer you Cruise Travel Insurance.

Cruise-specific Travel Insurance can offer you cover for all the things found on a standard Travel Insurance policy, but with EXTRA benefits tailored for specific problems that may arise on a cruise holiday.

What pre-existing conditions are covered?

Unlike standard Travel Insurance providers, a specialist Medical Travel Insurance provider will cover your pre-existing medical conditions. Make sure you declare all pre-existing medical conditions during the medical screening process.

Can you get over 50's cover if you're on a waiting list for treatment?

Yes, be sure to answer that you are on a waiting list for treatment during the Medical Warranty section of your quote.

Plus, if you’d like to be covered for cancelling your holiday due to being on the waiting list, simply Waiting List cover as an optional extra.

How can you make sure you are 'Fit to travel'?

You don’t need to provide us with a fit-to-fly certificate from your doctor. However, you will need to confirm you’re fit to travel when getting a quote or purchasing a policy.

So, if you have a chronic health condition, we recommend consulting with your GP before travelling.

If you need to make a claim, you may require a letter from your doctor. The letter will need to confirm that you were fit to travel when you bought your policy.

What's our medical screening process for over 50's Travel Insurance?

It’s a short set of straightforward questions about your health that will help determine your conditions and make sure you get the right level of cover.

You have to select the medical conditions applicable to you (and any other travellers) and answer a few routine medical questions. That’s it!

What if you buy an over 50's Travel Insurance policy, then your medical conditions change?

If you’ve purchased over 50s Travel Insurance from AllClear, you can amend your details at any time. Get in touch at the earliest possible opportunity to let us know what has changed concerning your medical condition.

Before you travel, let us know any changes to ensure that your policy is the most up-to-date and that you’re still covered.

How is the price of over 50's Travel Insurance calculated?

The price of Travel Insurance with medical conditions for those over 50 is based on the following factors:

  • Likelihood of your medical conditions needing treatment while abroad
  • Healthcare costs in your chosen destination and duration of your trip
  • Your age
