What’s a pre-existing medical condition?

When choosing your policy, you must declare your medical conditions via our medical screening process. This can be done online or over the phone. Elderly Travel Insurance with Covid cover

The number of Britons planning an overseas summer holiday has almost doubled since this time last year, rising from 34% to 64%⁴. Europe is proving to be a popular choice for many travellers. Forbes reports that travel to Europe will soar by an eye-popping 600%. Here’s what to expect this summer if you visit Europe. Seniors are driving the market. 46% of over 65-year-olds are planning a holiday abroad this summer, up from 33% last year⁴.

At least 1 in 4 (25%⁵) of retirement age are hoping to travel more than they did pre-pandemic. While we’re all delighted lockdown is in the past, Travel Insurance with Covid Cover is still essential. Travel Insurance for a cruise

Cruises are a great way for senior citizens to see the world. More than 1 in 3 (36%⁶) of those we surveyed aged 81+ are interested a cruise holiday. We don’t have any upper age limits on our cruise cover. So you can set sail at any age.

As a Senior traveller, you’ll need Travel Insurance for a cruise to cover your specific needs. It covers all that offers all the benefits found on a standard policy. Additionally, it provides extra benefits to help protect against cruise specific problems.

GHIC cover for seniors

A Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) is helpful for travellers of all ages when taking a trip to Europe. Money-saving expert Martin Lewis urges travellers to ensure they’ve got a valid GHIC before travelling. He includes checking the validation of your GHIC card as one of his 10 important checks before heading to the airport.

However, the scheme only gives you access to the default state healthcare system within a given country. Therefore it is not a substitute for Travel Insurance. To protect yourself and your trip, you’ll need comprehensive Senior Travel Insurance.

Frequently asked questions for Senior Travel Insurance

Are you covered for cancellation if someone else in your group has to go home early?

Yes, you are covered for the cancellation of any other travelling member listed on your Travel Insurance policy.

What if you have Life Insurance? Do you still need Travel Insurance for senior citizens?

Yes. Life Insurance is quite different from Travel Insurance. You will need Travel Insurance for the elderly to cover you for medical emergencies abroad or any cancellation costs.

You want to travel with your family. Can they join the same policy as you?

Yes. We offer the option to quote for a ‘Family’ or ‘Group’ during the quote process. You can even add them after buying your policy by contacting our Customer Care Team on 01708 339029.

Should you get a single trip or Annual Multi-trip policy?

A Single trip can be better if you only plan to go on one holiday in the next 12 months. However, an Annual Multi-trip policy can cover you for any number of trips in the next year. With the rising cost of living, buying an Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance policy can be a great way to save on your holiday spending as it can work out more cost-effective.
