Get the most out of your trips with our helpful guides
Travelling with ADHD can bring unique challenges, but getting the right Travel Insurance shouldn’t be one of them. We understand that attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder affects everyone differently, which is why our ADHD Travel Insurance is built to support your individual needs.
Whether it’s covering emergency medical care, travel delays, or unexpected changes to your plans, our specialist Travel Insurance policies give you the freedom to enjoy your trip without added stress. With personalised cover and a friendly, expert team to help you every step of the way, you can travel with confidence knowing you’re in safe hands.
What is Travel Insurance for ADHD, and why do you need it?
Travel Insurance for ADHD is designed to support travellers living with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. It takes into account the specific needs that may arise when managing ADHD symptoms while away from home, including medication support, help with routine disruptions, or the reassurance of having specialist cover should things go off-plan.
Without the right protection in place, even small travel mishaps can become overwhelming. ADHD can affect attention, memory, and executive function – meaning that missing a flight, losing medication, or dealing with last-minute changes can bring extra stress. AllClear’s specialist medical cover is here to reduce that risk, offering tailored medical support, trip protection, and access to 24/7 emergency assistance.
Here’s why it matters:
- ADHD affects around 2.6 million people in the UK – with many requiring ongoing treatment, including medication and therapy. Having tailored insurance ensures these needs are covered abroad.
-
Changes to routine can increase anxiety for travellers with ADHD, leading to greater vulnerability in unfamiliar settings.
-
Medication access abroad isn’t guaranteed. Some ADHD treatments are restricted or unavailable in certain countries, so having the right support and documentation is essential when travelling.
That’s where AllClear comes in. We’ve helped more than 3.5 million people travel with tailored medical cover, offering peace of mind, flexibility, and expert support when you need it most.
What does AllClear’s ADHD Travel Insurance cover?
Our ADHD Travel Insurance gives you the reassurance that, should the unexpected happen abroad, you won’t face it alone. From sudden medical issues to needing to return home urgently, we provide comprehensive protection for both planned and unforeseen events. You’ll be covered for emergency medical treatment, repatriation, and more, so you can travel with confidence knowing you’re well looked after.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s included – and what isn’t – in your policy:
What’s covered?
- Medical cover. AllClear policies include emergency medical cover, including for existing conditions. This includes prescription medication, medical emergencies and medical equipment.
- Cancellation and cutting your trip short². Cover for your flight and accommodation costs if you have to cancel before you go. We’ll also cover you if you need to return home early following an emergency.
- Your baggage. Protection against the cost of stolen, damaged or lost luggage and personal possessions. You can also choose to add extra cover for gadgets to your policy.
- Travel delays and missed departures. If your flight is delayed, we’ll compensate you for the time. If you miss your flight, you’ll also be covered for accommodation and transport costs.
- Personal liability. Cover for your legal expenses and any liability due if you accidentally injure someone. You also have cover if you damage their property while you’re away on holiday.
- All ages. We believe Travel Insurance should be available to as many people as possible. That’s why our Travel Insurance has no upper age limit.
What’s not covered?
- Deciding not to travel. We do not provide any cover if you can travel but choose not to.
- Other regions. Your ADHD Travel Insurance won’t cover you if you travel outside your chosen region. You can contact us to upgrade your policy anytime.
- Claims below the value of excess. You’re not covered for claims that fall below the value of the excess stated in your policy
- Medical conditions you fail to declare. You need to provide us with an accurate medical history when you buy Travel Insurance. This is so we can give you the right cover. This is especially vital for senior travellers and those with long-term illnesses.
For full details of cover, please see your policy wording.

AllClear’s Travel Insurance for ADHD with other pre-existing medical conditions
At AllClear, we’re proud to be specialists in Medical Travel Insurance, offering tailored protection to people with a wide range of health conditions. In fact, over 99% of our customers are offered cover³, giving them the confidence to travel, no matter their medical history.
To make sure you’re fully protected while you’re away, it’s important to declare all your medical conditions during the quote process, including ADHD. That way, if your condition affects your trip in any way, you’ll be supported by cover that’s built around your needs.
We cover more than 1,300 pre-existing medical conditions, including:
- Mental health conditions – including anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, depression and Schizophrenia.
- Endocrine disorders – including both types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. We also cover underactive thyroid and liver cirrhosis.
- Cardiovascular conditions – heart conditions like heart attack and high blood pressure. We also cover heart failure and ischemic heart disease.
- Musculoskeletal conditions – such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. We can also cover fibromyalgia and osteoporosis.
- Respiratory conditions – cover for conditions like asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, and cystic fibrosis.
Before we provide a quote, you’ll complete a simple medical screening. This involves a few short questions about your condition, such as:
- When were you diagnosed with ADHD?
- Do you take medication or receive therapy?
- Have you experienced any recent changes to your treatment or symptoms?
These questions help us build a policy that reflects your personal health profile. Once you’ve finished the screening, we’ll give you a personalised quote for ADHD Travel Insurance, so you can plan your trip with peace of mind.
Find the best ADHD Travel Insurance for your trip
The right Travel Insurance for ADHD should match both your medical needs and your travel plans. If you’re heading off for a short break or planning multiple adventures in the year ahead, it’s important to choose a policy that fits your lifestyle. Your destination, trip duration, and travel style all play a part in shaping your ideal level of cover.
The type of cover you need will vary depending on how often you go abroad.
- Single Trip Travel Insurance: Perfect if you’ve got one big holiday planned. You’ll be covered for a single trip of up to 365 days, with full medical protection in place.
- Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance: Ideal if you travel often. Cover multiple getaways in one year under one convenient policy, which could save you time and money.
You might need a different kind of cover depending on what type of holiday you’re having.
- Cruise Cover: Going on a cruise? Standard policies won’t cover issues like missed port stops, confinement to your cabin, or itinerary changes. Our Cruise Cover takes care of those cruise-specific risks.
- Gadget Cover: Rely on your devices? If you’re travelling with tablets, smartwatches, or laptops, Gadget Cover protects up to eight tech items on one policy.
- Golf Cover: Planning a golfing escape? Get cover for your equipment, including up to £750 for lost or damaged clubs and unused green fees.
Find a policy to suit your travel group, however many of you there are.
- Family Travel Insurance: One policy can cover up to two adults and up to eight children, making it simple for families to travel with peace of mind.
- Group Travel Insurance: Ideal for friends or organised trips, with cover for up to eight adults under a single plan.

ADHD Travel Insurance FAQs
Will declaring ADHD on Travel Insurance increase your premium?
Premiums are calculated on a number of factors including medical conditions, trip length, destination and age. It’s important to declare ADHD if you or your child have been diagnosed with it. If you need to make a claim for something relating to your ADHD and have not declared it, your claim may be declined.
Is ADHD a pre‑existing medical condition for Travel Insurance?
At AllClear we need you to declare all conditions or medical treatment that falls under the following requirements:
- In the last two years, taken any prescribed medication or received medical treatment or advice at a hospital, clinic, GP surgery or via remote consultation or received or been offered palliative care;
- Been placed on a waiting list that could cause you to cancel or curtail your trip;
- Been advised of a terminal illness.
Can I get Travel Insurance if I’m awaiting an ADHD diagnosis?
If you are under investigation for ADHD, it will be considered an undiagnosed condition. We can offer you a quote to cover any other diagnosed conditions whilst you await your diagnosis, however the undiagnosed condition will not be covered until it is formally diagnosed.
In addition, when you receive your diagnosis, you must tell us at the earliest opportunity, but in any case, before you book or commence your journey or pay the balance or any further instalments for your journey. Your policy will need to be updated, which will incur an administration fee and may also result in an additional premium to continue your cover.
In some cases, changes to your health may result in your premium exceeding our set terms and conditions, meaning we may no longer be able to provide insurance.
Does ADHD affect which type of Travel Insurance I can buy?
Not at all. Whether you’re looking for a Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip policy, we can provide cover tailored to your needs. Just let us know about your ADHD when you get a quote, and we’ll guide you through the best options for your travel plans.
Do I need to tell the airline I have ADHD before I fly?
It’s not mandatory, but letting the airline know about your ADHD can help make your journey smoother. Some airlines offer special assistance or pre-boarding options for passengers with neurodiverse conditions. If you think you’d benefit from extra time, a quieter space, or help navigating the airport, it’s worth mentioning it in advance.
Is it okay to take ADHD medication through airport security?
Yes, but make sure your medication is clearly labelled, and bring a copy of your prescription or a doctor’s note. ADHD medication, especially stimulants like methylphenidate, may be controlled substances in some countries, so always check the travel rules for your destination and bring the appropriate documentation.
