Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can strike suddenly, which is why having the right support in place when you travel is essential. If you’ve experienced anaphylaxis before, you’ll understand how important it is to plan ahead, especially when you’re far from home.
That’s where AllClear’s Anaphylaxis Travel Insurance comes in. Our specialist policies provide cover for your pre-existing medical condition, including access to emergency medical treatment, related medication, and repatriation if needed. With tailored protection and 24/7 emergency assistance, you can explore the world with greater confidence and peace of mind.
What is Travel Insurance for anaphylaxis, and why do you need it?
Travel Insurance for Anaphylaxis is designed to protect people who are at risk of severe allergic reactions while travelling. If you’ve ever experienced anaphylaxis, you’ll know how important it is to act quickly – and being abroad can make that more complex. From access to emergency medical care to ensuring your prescribed adrenaline (like EpiPens) is recognised and supported overseas, this type of specialist Travel Insurance is tailored to keep you safe wherever you go.
Without the right cover, a reaction abroad could result in expensive hospital bills, disrupted travel plans, and added stress for you and your companions. AllClear’s specialist policies aim to reduce that risk, giving you support for emergency treatment, trip cancellation due to medical needs, and even help getting home early if necessary.
Here’s why Anaphylaxis Travel Insurance matters:
-
Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening, requiring immediate treatment, including emergency adrenaline and hospital care.
-
Food, insect stings, and environmental allergens can differ abroad, increasing the risk of exposure in unfamiliar places.
-
Not all destinations have the same emergency response systems or access to medication, making tailored insurance essential.
With AllClear, you’re backed by over 20 years of expertise in medical Travel Insurance. Our policies are built around your health needs, so you can focus on enjoying your travels, knowing we’re here if you need us.
What does AllClear’s anaphylaxis Travel Insurance cover?
With our Anaphylaxis Travel Insurance, you’ll have reassurance that if the unexpected happens abroad, you’re covered. Our policies include up to unlimited emergency medical expenses, ensuring you can access the treatment you need quickly, even if that means hospital care, replacement medication, or urgent support after an allergic reaction. We also cover the cost of returning home early if medically required.
Here’s a clear breakdown of what’s included in your policy – and what’s not:
What’s covered?
- Medical cover. AllClear policies include emergency medical cover, including for existing conditions. This includes prescription medication, medical emergencies and medical equipment.

Find the best anaphylaxis Travel Insurance for your trip
Choosing the right travel insurance is essential when living with anaphylaxis. The cover you need can vary depending on how often you travel, where you’re heading, and the kind of holiday you’re planning. Whether it’s a one-off adventure or several trips a year, your policy should be built around your lifestyle and health needs.
How often are you travelling?
- Single Trip Travel Insurance: Ideal for one-off holidays. This policy covers one continuous trip of up to 365 days and includes emergency medical protection tailored for anaphylaxis.
- Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance: If you’re planning multiple getaways in the year ahead, this option offers flexible protection across several trips – often at better value than booking each one separately.
What kind of holiday are you planning?
- Cruise Cover: Going on a cruise? You’ll need specialist cover for things like cabin confinement, missed port stops, and onboard medical emergencies.
- Gadget Cover: Travelling with more than just your phone? Protect up to eight devices in case of theft, damage, or loss during your trip.
- Golf Cover: If your holiday includes a few rounds on the green, this add-on covers lost or damaged clubs and unused green fees – up to £750.
Who are you travelling with?
- Family Travel Insurance: One policy can cover up to two adults and eight children, making it easier to protect the whole family, especially when travelling with children who also have allergies or medical needs.
- Group Travel Insurance: Great for organised trips or getaways with friends, with cover for up to eight adults under one plan.
With AllClear, you can tailor your policy to match your plans and enjoy your time away with peace of mind, knowing you’re fully covered against allergy-related emergencies.

Anaphylaxis Travel Insurance FAQs
Can I get Travel Insurance if I have a history of anaphylaxis?
Yes — at AllClear, we specialise in Travel Insurance for people with medical conditions, including anaphylaxis. We know that severe allergic reactions can be unpredictable, so we tailor your cover to include your specific needs. Just complete our medical screening honestly, and we’ll work with you to provide the right level of protection for your trip.
Do I need to declare anaphylaxis on my Travel Insurance?
Declaring your history of anaphylaxis is essential. If you don’t tell us about it, and you need medical care abroad due to that condition, your claim may be declined. We use the details you provide to make sure your policy really protects you for emergencies linked to your allergic reactions
What does AllClear’s Travel Insurance cover if I have anaphylaxis?
When you declare anaphylaxis, your policy can include:
-
Emergency medical treatment if you have a reaction abroad
-
Hospital and medical expenses
-
Repatriation back to the UK if medically necessary
-
Cancellation or trip interruption if you’re unable to travel due to your condition
-
Replacement of lost or damaged medication
Do I need to tell the airline about my anaphylaxis before flying?
It’s not a requirement for your Travel Insurance, but Anaphylaxis UK recommends telling your airline and airport staff before you travel, especially if your anaphylaxis is triggered by food or insect stings. Many airlines offer allergy support — like pre‑board cleaning or meal information — which can help reduce your risk during the flight.
What documentation should I take if I have anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis UK recommends carrying the following when travelling abroad with severe allergies:
-
At least two adrenaline auto-injectors (such as EpiPens) in your hand luggage
-
A letter from your GP explaining your allergy and confirming your need for medication
-
A copy of your allergy action plan, ideally translated into the local language
-
Details of your Travel Insurance policy and emergency contact numbers
Having these documents helps airport staff, airline crew, and local medical professionals understand your needs quickly and provide the right support in an emergency.
