Undiagnosed conditions and getting cover
Your condition is undiagnosed, can you still get cover?
We can provide cover for your diagnosed conditions, while excluding the undiagnosed symptoms. Please note that we can only provide a quote of this nature over the phone, it is not available online. Once you’ve received a diagnosis you can call us to update your policy and get cover for the new condition. Your GP or healthcare provider may be able to help you if you have a currently undiagnosed condition.
Waiting on test results before your quote
If your test is part of a routine check-up, on a previously diagnosed medical condition, you can get a quote. A medical condition is regarded as undiagnosed when the cause of symptoms is unknown. Please note, if you are unsure about the purpose of your test, it is best to confirm with your doctor.
Waiting on the results of an investigation before your quote
How do you declare that you’re waiting the results of an investigation?
If you have an undiagnosed condition or symptoms that you are waiting to be investigated, then, unfortunately, we would be unable to provide cover for the related symptoms until you have a confirmed diagnosis.
Common questions about undiagnosed conditions
All your tests/scans were negative; what do you need to declare?
If the purpose of the tests and / or scans were only to investigate the possibility of a new medical condition, for which your results have confirmed you do not have, then there is nothing you need to declare. However, please note that if the investigation was in relation to an existing and diagnosed medical condition, you may be asked about having tests or hospital visits for said medical condition, during the Medical section of your quote. If your doctor was unsure of the diagnosis and you have no further tests planned, but you received treatment for the medical condition they suspected it to be, we will need to declare this medical condition.

Travel Insurance for Undiagnosed Conditions FAQs
Can I get Travel Insurance if I’m waiting for a diagnosis?
Yes, you can still get a policy that covers your diagnosed medical conditions. However, any undiagnosed symptoms or ongoing investigations won’t be covered until you have a confirmed diagnosis. Once your doctor confirms what’s causing your symptoms, contact us to update your policy.
What if I’m waiting for test results or scans?
If your tests are part of a routine check-up for an existing condition, you can go ahead and get a quote. But if you’re being tested for new or unexplained symptoms, those won’t be covered until your doctor provides a confirmed diagnosis.
What if my tests come back clear?
If all your results are negative and your doctor confirms you don’t have a medical condition, there’s nothing extra you need to declare. If the tests were connected to an existing diagnosis, you should still declare that condition when getting your quote.
Can I update my policy once I have a diagnosis?
Absolutely. Once your doctor provides a confirmed diagnosis, contact us to update your cover. You’ll then have comprehensive medical Travel Insurance, protecting you for emergency care, cancellations, and repatriation if needed.
