If your family is heading to Europe, it’s good for each member to have Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). This will provide access to some emergency medical healthcare in 27 countries where the scheme is available.
However, Travel Insurance is still required as the GHIC doesn’t cover everything. For example, if one or more of your family members need to be repatriated, you could face a substantial bill without cover. Repatriation from Spain to the UK is £18,000, and from the USA to the UK is £50,000.

To get a quote as a family, you need up to 2 adults with at least one child (under the age of 18). Individuals can travel independently on a Single or Annual Multi-trip policy. However, exemptions apply. Those under 18’s must be travelling with someone over the age of 18 who is insured on the policy.
Family Travel Insurance covers up to two adults with at least one child (under 18). Family members can include parents, stepparents and children. This type of policy can also include extended family members such as uncles, aunties and cousins.
Family Travel Insurance only covers two travellers over the age of 18. Any additional Adult travellers will need to take out their own individual policies.
