Coronavirus Cover and travel restrictions to Tunisia
Since the start of the virus, travel information changes every day in the UK and Tunisia is no different. Currently the FCDO and WHO are advising against all overseas travel to Tunisia. Unfortunately Tunisia is not on the green list and so our policies will not be valid until this information changes. You can keep up to date by visiting the FCDO’s travel advice for Tunisia.
At the moment the Tunisian government requires all travellers to provide a negative PCR COVID-19 test less than 72 hours of travel. You should not use the NHS to do this, you must pay for a private test. When you arrive you will be expected to quarantine at a government approved hotel, personal residence or a quarantine site at your own expense. You have the option to pay for another PCR test after 7 days and if negative you will be allowed to quarantine early.
On our AllClear coronavirus travel insurance page you can find more details about what’s covered once the travel ban is lifted.
What is comprehensive travel insurance?
Tunisia does not have any free healthcare for visitors and so it is important to have a policy that has adequate medical cover. This will cover any medical emergencies while you are in Tunisia.
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, it’s especially important that you declare all of them so you’re fully covered for medical emergencies that may arise from them or from unexpected incidents.
You will also need cancellation cover to take care of the cost of the holiday should anything happen that makes it not possible to travel. For example, due to your declared pre-existing medical condition your situation changes and you cannot travel for medical reasons, you can claim back the cost of your holiday.

All countries come with petty crime that you should be aware of and Tunisia is no different. To make sure your gadgets are protected you can take out gadget cover insurance that will cover you for up to 7 items, with a claim limit of £3,000. Don’t let theft ruin your holiday.
You may be travelling with someone that is likely to have to cancel their holiday if you are unable to make their trip. To have you both protected and able to get back the cost of your holiday, you can take out a “travel companion” cover. As long as your companion has insurance elsewhere, they will be able to make a cancellation claim against your policy should they have to cancel due to your medical conditions rendering you unable to travel.
