Our Travel Insurance for Over 75s is designed to protect what matters most: your health, your plans, and your peace of mind. With no upper age limit and cover for over 1,300 medical conditions, you’re free to embrace every trip knowing you’re in good hands.
What is Travel Insurance for Over 75s, and do you need it?
If you’re over 75 and planning a trip abroad, having specialist Travel Insurance is essential. As we get older, the chances of needing medical care on holiday increase, and so can the costs. That’s why our Travel Insurance for Over 75s is designed to protect you against unexpected expenses, from medical emergencies and hospital visits to lost luggage and trip cancellations.
Our policies have no upper age limit, and we can cover more than 1,300 pre-existing medical conditions, so you can travel with peace of mind.
Travel Insurance is essential if you’re planning a trip abroad at any age, but especially as you get older. For example:
- In 2023, we paid more than £33,000 to cover the medical costs of a 75-year-old who contracted Bronchopneumonia in Turkey.
- A fall in Spain, resulting in a broken hip, would cost £15,000, including getting home.
- The NHS estimates a third of all people over 65 will have at least one fall a year.
- If you fall on holiday, it’s important to make sure your insurance covers your hospital visit.
Without the right Travel Insurance, these costs would need to be paid out of pocket. With AllClear, you’ll get comprehensive cover, a simple quote process, and the reassurance of a team that understands your needs.
If you’re looking for Travel Insurance for Over 75s, more than 99% of our customers are offered cover1. Our policies come with up to unlimited cover for medical expenses and repatriation, meaning you’re free to relax and enjoy your trip.

What our Customers Say
Frequently asked Questions about Travel Insurance for over 75s
How much does Travel Insurance cost for over 75s?
The cost of your Travel Insurance for Over 75s depends on key details including your age, any declared medical conditions, your destination, and how long you’re travelling for. Optional extras such as cruise cover, gadget protection or golf insurance will also affect the final price, giving you a policy tailored to your trip.
How can over 75s get cheaper Travel Insurance?
Travel Insurance for Over 75s is influenced by a number of factors, including your age, medical history, destination, and trip duration. Countries like the USA, where healthcare is costly, typically lead to higher premiums.
To help reduce the cost of your premium, you could:
- Choose a destination with lower medical costs
- Shorten the length of your trip
- Increase your excess (the amount you pay towards a claim)
However, while it’s tempting to choose the cheapest policy, always check what’s included. A lower premium may offer limited protection — for example, valuables might only be covered up to £50. If you’re travelling with gadgets, medical needs, or planning a cruise, it’s worth investing in comprehensive cover tailored to your needs.
Does the cost of Travel Insurance increase at age 75?
Yes, travel insurance premiums typically rise once you reach age 75. As we age, the chances of needing medical treatment while abroad increase, which makes insurance more costly. This trend applies across the board, not just with specialist providers. At AllClear, we offset this by offering tailored cover with no upper age limit and options that let you customise your policy to match your needs and budget.
Do over 75s need Travel Insurance?
Absolutely. The UK Government advises all travellers to take out appropriate Travel Insurance before leaving the country. For those aged over 75, the risk of medical emergencies abroad is significantly higher, making insurance essential. Without it, you could face thousands in unexpected medical costs. Our policies provide tailored protection, giving you the confidence to travel safely at any age.
Do I need Travel Insurance for Over 75s if I have a GHIC?
Yes, you still need Travel Insurance, even if you have a GHIC. The UK Government recommends that everyone takes out Travel Insurance before leaving the country.
It’s important to note that while the GHIC may cover you for any unexpected medical costs, such as emergency treatment and visits to A&E or treatment for long-term or pre-existing medical conditions, it does not cover anything outside of that. For example, it will not cover the cost of transport to or from the hospital, or anything outside of medical emergencies, such as lost luggage or cancelled accommodation.
The GHIC is only valid within Europe, so if you are travelling further afield, it will not help with medical costs.
