It’s important to note that The Republic of Cyprus is in the South and where most UK holiday-makers visit. It is part of the European Union. The UK government doesn’t recognise the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Does European Travel Insurance cover Cyprus?
Yes, the Republic of Cyprus is covered, but you must buy a policy for the correct AllClear region. We split Europe into two regions when looking at European Travel Insurance: Region 2 and Region 3. Travel Insurance for Cyprus is in Europe Region 3.
Region 3 includes all of the countries in Region 2, as well as a number of excluded countries:
- Spain (including the Balearic Islands)
- The Canaries
- Turkey
- Cyprus and Malta
To get Travel Insurance that may include Northern Cyprus, you must select a policy that includes cover for Region 10 – Worldwide, including the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. However, please note that cover for travel to Northern Cyprus is not guaranteed. You should check the latest FCDO advice and confirm with us before you travel.

- Claims below the value of excess: You’re not covered for claims that fall below the value of the excess stated in your policy
- Medical conditions you fail to declare: You need to provide us with an accurate medical history when you buy Travel Insurance so we can give you the right cover. This is especially vital for senior travellers and those with long-term conditions
- Activities: Always check any activities you plan are included by reading the Policy Wording. We offer a range of optional extra cover if needed. We do not cover winter sports for anyone over 65
- Travelling against government advice: If travel to the region you’re visiting is advised against, you will not be covered if you go anyway. Always check the FCDO website
