Do you still need Travel Insurance when travelling to Europe if you have a GHIC?
The Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) was first issued on January 1st 2020. It replaces the EHIC card to aid UK citizens in medical emergencies when travelling abroad. To request a GHIC online, visit the official website.
GHIC is not a substitute for comprehensive medical travel insurance. It does not provide cover for all circumstances, such as repatriation costs.
