If you are stuck in motorway traffic due to an accident occurring ahead of you or your scheduled public transport has not arrived in time, you may miss your scheduled port departure due to no fault of your own. We understand that this sort of thing can happen. Our specialist cruise travel insurance policies can cover you for accommodation and travel expenses that you may incur in order to reach your cruise ship at its next docking port, allowing you to ‘catch up’ with your cruise
If you fall ill whilst cruising, you may be ordered by the ship’s medical officer to stay confined to your cabin until the illness has passed, in order to prevent the virus from spreading to other passengers or crew members. You Have an EHIC, Do You Still Need Specialist Cruise Travel Insurance?
Yes you will still require cruise travel insurance. The EHIC card will ensure you are entitled to the same level of treatment as a citizen of that country.
However, it does not cover cancellation or curtailment and will not cover private medical costs if you are taken to a private hospital. It also does not cover medical evacuation costs or provide repatriation cover if you need to be returned to the UK.
