Are you covered for travel in the pandemic?
There are three things to check so that you can make sure you're covered:
- You must be fit to travel
- The FCO must NOT have advised against travel to your destination
- You must follow the local government advice for your destination, checking and following their guidelines and entry requirements
You can then be covered for emergency medical expenses or cancellation relating to COVID-19, when you have travel insurance with enhanced Coronavirus cover. If you’re an existing policyholder, you can read our Frequently Asked Questions if your trip is affected by Covid-19.
Explaining the Cruise Specific Cover
Missed port departure:
If you are stuck in motorway traffic due to an accident occurring ahead of you or your scheduled public transport has not arrived in time, you may miss your scheduled port departure due to no fault of your own. We understand that this sort of thing can happen. Our specialist cruise travel insurance policies can cover you for accommodation and travel expenses that you may incur in order to reach your cruise ship at its next docking port, allowing you to ‘catch up’ with your cruise
If you fall ill whilst cruising, you may be ordered by the ship’s medical officer to stay confined to your cabin until the illness has passed, in order to prevent the virus from spreading to other passengers or crew members. By purchasing cruise travel insurance, you can receive compensation for each 24 hour period that you are confined to your cabin
Being confined to the four walls of your stateroom can be frustrating and may lead to you missing out on pre-booked excursions. Cruise specific travel insurance can offer reimbursement in the event that you are unable to use any pre-booked excursions as a direct result of being confined to your own cabin due to an accident or illness
You may miss or need to cancel a port departure due to adverse weather or time table restrictions. Not to worry. We will pay up to £500 (up to £100 per port) for each missed port
Falling temporarily ill whilst on your trip is everyone’s worst nightmare, but with thousands of passengers sharing a relatively confined space, illnesses are likely to spread. If you require hospital treatment on dry land, cruise travel insurance can offer you cover for the expenses incurred in order for you to re-join your cruise

AllClear recommends that all family members travelling together on the same cruise be covered under the same travel insurance policy. This ensures that they will be covered should any member of the family need to cancel or curtail their trip.
Will You Need a Medical Certificate?
