Why Buy Travel Insurance for Majorca?

When travelling abroad it is a vital and an all-too-often disregarded factor to consider Travel Insurance for unforeseen events. This can lead to large medical bills, many thousands of pounds,  that you will have to pay for any unforeseen medical emergencies that may happen while you’re away. That’s why it’s important to have a comprehensive Travel Insurance policy in place that will cover you should the unexpected happen. Visit our blog for more information on why you need Travel Insurance.

How much does Medical Treatment cost in Majorca?

Medical costs in Majorca can be very expensive depending on the treatment you require. The island has a different policy for tourists than it does for residents. If you’re a tourist in Majorca then you should have an insurance policy in place before you travel that will cover you for medical emergencies and should also cover you for any pre-existing medical conditions that you may have. You must declare these conditions to your insurance provider when buying your policy to ensure that they are covered.

Even costs for rehydration in Majorca can reach up into thousands. If you travel to Majorca without Travel Insurance then you take the risk of paying at the local town or village PAC (“Punto de Atención Continuada”) but this can add exponentially to your costs.

If you have a dual-residency and own property on Majorca then you will be entitled to state care, that is, if you have paid enough into the social security system. If not then you will need a private health care package until then.

Enjoying your time in Majorca with Peace of Mind

Majorca has long been a favourite for British holidaymakers. A beautiful island forming part of the dramatic, historic and scenically stunning Balearic islands, we have enjoyed its awesome landscape, exotic beaches and reliable sunny weather for decades. The island’s numerous hotel resorts are always very popular and Majorca has many activities to offer. Other than the famed beaches, fine food and swimming in the pools and clear seas, day trips and excursions offer holiday makers the chance to see a more cultural somewhat unseen side of the island including the superb gothic cathedral – the Caterdral de Mallorca – to the stunning epic landscapes of the Serra de Tramuntana national parks. Forming part of the Balearic islands and autonomous with the mainland, Majorca or Mallorca is named from the Greek meaning “The Larger One”, as opposed to Minorca “The Smaller One”. So whether you are looking for fun-in-the-sun or you’re a culture-vulture, Majorca will surely have something for you and we want you to travel with peace of mind knowing that you have a policy that will protect you when you need it.

What Should a Travel Insurance Policy for Majorca Cover?

Look for a policy that will suit your specific needs. Think about any medical conditions you have and consider what’s important to you. A good Travel Insurance policy should give you essential cover for:

  • Emergency medical expenses - comprehensive cover for your pre-existing medical conditions as well as any unforeseen circumstance. Look for a policy that will include cover for any repatriation costs as well as some extras such as accommodation for a family member and other expenses.

  • Cancellation and curtailment - A policy can also cover you should you have to cancel your holiday or cut it short due to medical conditions or other circumstances.

  • Baggage and Personal Property - Your personal property, including your passport, can also be covered by a good insurance policy. If your belongings are lost, damaged or stolen then a policy can cover you for financial loss, as well as offering emergency help when needed.

  • Added Extras - Perhaps you require insurance for a specific holiday activity such as winter sports or golf.
