How is your premium determined?
Your destination, trip duration, age and any pre-existing medical conditions you may have are the main factors used to calculate the cost of your premium. What if you have an undiagnosed condition?
We need to know the name of your medical condition, so if you have an undiagnosed condition, you will need to wait until your GP or consultant has provided you with a diagnosis. We would suggest you refer to your GP or healthcare provider who may be able to help if this is the case. Once you have a diagnosis, we’ll be able to provide you with a quote.
What is single trip travel insurance for over 65's?
If you know you’ll only be travelling once within the year then a single trip policy may well work out to be lower cost. Cover can be arranged for the exact number of days you’ll be travelling and you can choose to add or remove cancellation cover and baggage cover.
You can buy your policy up to 12 months before you’re due to travel with your cancellation cover starting from the day you purchase.
What is annual multi-trip travel insurance for over 65's?
There a certain cover options which could reduce your premium without compromising your cover – choosing annual multi-trip travel insurance is one of them.
For example, if you travel two or more times a year, an annual multi-trip travel insurance for over 65’s is likely to cost less than 2 or three single trip policies.
The maximum trip length varies between providers but will either be 31 days or 45 days. Some insurance providers offer extended trip lengths of up to 60 days – subject to an additional premium.
Annual multi-trip policies can be purchased up to 31 days in advance. However, please note any claims made before your chosen start date will not be covered.
How often can you travel with over 65's annual travel insurance?
With our over 65’s annual multi-trip policies, you can take any number of trips during the year. Rather than needing to tell us exactly where you’ll be, you only need to select your preferred region of the cover.
However, there are restrictions on the length of time you can be away for any one trip. You can see the maximum trip duration for each of our providers here.
Where can you travel to with AllClear’s over 65's travel insurance?
We cover all destinations. For a single trip policy, simply enter the name of the country or countries you will be visiting. For an annual multi-trip policy, you have three regions to choose from: Europe, Worldwide excluding North America, and Worldwide including North America.
How can you make sure you are ‘Fit to travel’?
You don’t need to provide us with a certificate from your doctor, but you will need to confirm you’re fit to travel at the time of getting a quote or purchasing a policy.
If you need to make a claim, you may require a letter from your doctor confirming that you were fit to travel at the time you bought your policy.
What if you purchase an over 65's travel policy then your medical conditions change?
If you’ve bought an over 65’s travel policy and you need to amend something to do with your declared medical conditions then simply get in touch at the earliest possible opportunity and we will update your details.
It’s important to let us know any changes before you travel to ensure your policy is the most up to date and you’re still covered.
